Cookies

When you visit the Popless Platform we may place cookies on your device. Cookies are small text files that websites send to your computer or other Internet-connected devices to uniquely identify your browser or to store information or settings in your browser. Cookies allow us to recognize you when you return. They also help us provide a customized experience and can enable us to detect certain kinds of fraud. In many cases, the information we collect using cookies and other tools is only used in a non-identifiable manner without reference to personal information. For example, we may use the information we collect to better understand website traffic patterns and to optimize our website experience. In some cases, we associate the information we collect using cookies and other technology with your personal information. Our business partners may also use these tracking technologies on the Popless Platform or engage others to track your behavior on our behalf.

Types of cookies

The types of cookies used on the Popless Platform can generally be put into one of eight categories: 1) Strictly Necessary, 2) Performance, 3) Functionality, 4) Flash, 5) Pixel Tags, Web Beacons, and Trackers, 6) Intercom Support, 7) Tailored Content, and 8) Targeting. In order to provide you with the best browsing experience, Popless uses all of these categories on the Site. You can find out more about each cookie category in the sections below.

For cookies not necessary for the performance of the Popless Platform, our collection is subject to your consent as provided through the acceptance of our Privacy Policy and cookie consent opt-in available. In many cases, you can manage cookie preferences and opt-out of having cookies and other data collection technologies used by adjusting the settings on your browser. All browsers are different, so visit the “help” section of your browser when you want to learn about cookie preferences and other privacy settings that may be available. Please note that if you choose to remove or reject cookies or clear local storage this could affect the features, availability, and functionality of the Popless Platform.

 1. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are essential, as they enable you to navigate the Popless Platform and use its features, such as accessing secure areas. Without these cookies, some services you have asked for such as payment submission can not be provided.

2. Performance cookies

These cookies collect information about how you use the Popless Platform, for example, which pages you go to most often and if you get error messages from certain pages. These cookies don’t gather identifiable information about you. All information these cookies collect is anonymous and is only used to improve how the Popless Platform works.

3. Functionality cookies

These cookies allow the Popless Platform to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language, or the region you’re in). For instance, the Site uses functionality cookies to remember your language preference. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you’ve made to text size, font, and other parts of pages that you can customize. They may also be used to provide services you’ve asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymous and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.

4. Flash cookies

We may use Flash Cookies, also known as Local Stored Objects, and similar technologies to personalize and enhance your online experience. A Flash cookie is a small data file placed on a computer using Adobe Flash technology. The Adobe Flash Player is an application that allows rapid development of dynamic content, such as video clips and animation.

We use Flash cookies to personalize and enhance your online experience and to deliver content for Flash players. We may also use Flash cookies for security purposes, to gather certain website metrics, and to help remember settings and preferences. Flash cookies are managed through a different interface than the one provided by your web browser. To manage Flash cookies, please visit Adobe’s website.

If you disable Flash cookies or other similar technologies, please note that you may not have access to certain content and product features such as your device remembering a Listing that you viewed during a previous visit.

5. Pixel tags, web beacons, and trackers

Pixel tags, web beacons, and tracking URLs are tiny graphic images and/or small blocks of code placed on website pages, ads, or in our emails, that allow us to determine whether you performed a specific action. When you access these pages, or when you open an email, let us know you have accessed the web page or opened the email. These tools help us measure response to our communications and improve our web pages and promotions.

 6. Intercom cookies

We may, in certain circumstances, use Intercom to deliver customer support and help. To improve your user experience, cookies are employed to provide functions such as remembering your settings and preferences. To manage Intercom cookies, please visit Intercom’s website

7. Tailored content cookies

Tailored content cookies help the Popless Platform provide enhanced features and display content in a way that is relevant to you. These cookies help the Site determine what information to show you based on how you have used the Site previously. These cookies do not track your browsing activity on other websites.

 8. Targeting cookies

These cookies are used to deliver advertisements that are more relevant to you and your interests. They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of an advertising campaign. They remember that you have visited a website and this information may be shared with other organizations such as advertisers. This means after you have been to the Popless Platform you may see advertisements about Site services elsewhere on the internet.

Server logs and other technologies

We collect many different types of information from server logs and other technologies. For example, we collect information about the device you use to access Popless, your operating system type, browser type, domain, and other system settings, as well as the language your system uses and the country and time zone where your device is located. Our server logs also record the IP address of the device you use to connect to the Internet. An IP address is a unique identifier that devices require to identify and communicate with each other on the Internet. We may also collect information about the website you were visiting before you came to Popless and the website you visit after you leave Popless.

We may also collect information about your use of Popless such as when we provide accessibility tools. The tools described, help us improve the user experience and deliver our services.

Device information

We may use device-related information to authenticate users. For example, we may use your IP address, browser information, or other data provided by your browser or device to identify the device being used to access our platform. We may also use these device-related techniques for associating you with different devices that you may use to access our content including for fraud-protection purposes and to better target advertising.

The length of time a cookie will stay on your browsing device depends on whether it is a “persistent” or “session” cookie. Session cookies will only stay on your device until you stop browsing. Persistent cookies stay on your browsing device until they expire or are deleted.

Third parties

Popless permits third parties to collect the information described above through our Service and discloses such information to third parties for business purposes as described in this Privacy Policy, including but not limited to providing advertising on our Service and elsewhere based on users’ online activities over time and across different sites, services, and devices.

First-party cookies are cookies that belong to us, while third-party cookies are cookies that another party places on your browsing device through our Site. Popless permits third parties to collect the information described above through our Service and discloses such information to third parties for business purposes as described in this Privacy Policy, including but not limited to providing advertising on our Service and elsewhere based on users’ online activities over time and across different sites, services, and devices.

Third parties, including Facebook, place technologies such as pixels and SDKs on Popless. These technologies: 1) help us analyze how Popless is used, such as by noting the third-party services from which you arrived, 2) market and advertise Popless services to you on Popless and third party websites, 3) help us detect or prevent fraud or conduct risk assessments, and 4) collect information about your activities on Popless, other sites, and/or the ads you have clicked on. For example, to help us better understand how people use Popless, we work with a number of analytics partners, including Google Analytics. To prevent Google Analytics from using your information for analytics, you may install the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser by clicking here. In some cases, cookies are placed if certain criteria are met, such as being logged into the third-party service on the same browser.

Third parties, including Facebook, may also use such tracking technologies to collect or receive information from Popless and elsewhere and use that information to serve ads that they believe are most likely to be of interest to you and measure the effectiveness of their ads both on Popless and on other websites and online services. Targeting and advertising cookies we use may include Google, and other advertising networks and services we use from time to time. See here for information on how Google manages data in its ad products. For more information about targeting and advertising cookies and how you can opt-out, you can visit the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page, the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page, or http://youronlinechoices.eu.

To opt-out of Google Analytics for display advertising or customize Google display network ads, you can visit the Google Ads Settings page. To the extent advertising technology is integrated into the Popless Site and you opt-out of tailored advertising, you may still receive advertising content. In that case, the advertising content will just not be tailored to your interests. Also, we do not control any of these opt-out links and are not responsible for the availability or accuracy of these mechanisms. Users can opt-out of the collection and use of information for ad targeting by updating their Facebook account ad settings and by contacting hello@popless.com with a description of your request and validation information.

Control and delete cookies through your browser

Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can modify your browser setting to decline cookies by visiting the Help portion of your browser’s toolbar. While you may disable cookies through your browser settings, the Popless Platform currently does not respond to a “Do Not Track” signal in the HTTP header from your browser or mobile application due to lack of standardization regarding how that signal should be interpreted.

Flash cookies operate differently than browser cookies, and cookie management tools available in a web browser will not remove flash cookies. To learn more about how to manage flash cookies, you can visit the Adobe website and make changes at the Global Privacy Settings Panel.

Your mobile device may allow you to control cookies through its settings function. Refer to your device manufacturer’s instructions for more information.

The browser you are using to view the Site can enable, disable, or delete cookies. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser (usually located within the “Help,” “Tools” or “Edit” facility). Please note that if you set your browser to disable cookies, you may not be able to access certain parts of the Site, for example, applying for a job or posting a job. Other parts of the Site may also not work properly. You can find out more information about how to change your browser cookie settings at www.allaboutcookies.org.
