Because your profile is the face of your business on Popless, it's important to spend some time polishing it to highlight your strengths and accomplishments. It is your primary marketing tool, especially for students who do not already know who you are, and it's the tool you use to set up your tutoring services and enable students to book your time.

A well-crafted tutor profile can help you stand out in a crowded market and give students the confidence to choose you as their tutor. In this blog, we will discuss the importance of setting up a tutor profile and provide tips on how to create an effective and engaging profile that will help you attract more students and succeed in the tutoring industry.

If you're having trouble setting up your profile, bio, or summary, we are available to help edit and finesse your text. You can also look at the profiles of other tutors, for reference.

Personal Info

Profile image

Choosing a good profile picture is an important aspect of creating a successful tutor profile. A profile picture is often the first thing that a potential student sees when they come across your profile, so it's important to make a good first impression. It's a good idea to choose a profile picture that accurately represents your appearance, as this helps to build trust and rapport with your students.

Username

This is the name that displays on your profile. It will also be the basis for your Popless profile link. It's a good idea to keep this short to make it easier to share your URL and for your students to type it in.

Title

This is your title, which is a label that is displayed right below your name. There is a limit of 70 characters for titles, so try to be succinct. It is most direct to incorporate the name of your main subject(s) (e.g., "Maths tutor", or "PHD graduate and experienced English tutor").

Summary

This is the full description that people can read on your tutor profile. This is where you can elaborate on the highlights mentioned in your summary.

  • Consider using first-person. Briefly highlight your tutoring experience, your education, and your overall approach to teaching.

  • Lead with the most important details. Since only the first 300 characters will be displayed when a student loads your profile. The rest is hidden behind a "read more" button and must be clicked to be seen.

  • Don't be afraid to repeat what you've said in the Summary. They never appear together. The Summary is a replacement for the Bio when the amount of text we can display is capped.

Social links

These fields add icons linking to your Twitch, Twitter, Youtube, Instagram, Facebook, Discord ID, Discord Server, TikTok, and or website on your tutor profile. (In the case of Discord ID, clicking the icon will copy your Discord ID so it can be pasted.) Adding these accounts will help you gain followers and demonstrate that you're established on social media.

Specialties and subjects

Listing the subjects you tutor is an important aspect of creating a successful tutor profile, as it helps to clearly communicate to potential students the areas in which you have expertise. By listing the subjects you tutor, you can make it easier for students to find you when searching for a tutor in a specific subject or topic. It's also important to be specific and accurate when listing the subjects you tutor, as this helps to establish your credibility and expertise in those areas. Additionally, listing the subjects you tutor can also help to attract students who are looking for tutors with a specific skill set or knowledge base.
